Lamp 07
A single disc of light, held on a slender rod and set by hand. We gave Lamp 07 a film, a set of stills and a day in the rooms it was made for.
The film
We open in the dark, close to the metal. The dial turns, the eye climbs the rod, and only then does the room fill with light. Fifteen seconds, with nothing shown before its moment.
The object
A disc, a rod and a dial. With so little to look at, every edge has to carry the whole idea, so we treated each one like a portrait.
The day
A lamp is only finished once someone lives with it. So we followed this one through a day: a table at ten, a quiet wall in the afternoon, a reading chair at three.
Evening
As the day goes, the light goes with it, from warm white down to deep amber, and slowly back.
